An Invitation for Children to Take Part in the 34th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice 2006

Dear children, dear friends of children's fine art,

The International Children's Exhibition of Fine Art Lidice and its 34th edition will be inaugurated in June 2006. This exhibition is well known among child creators and their teachers not only in our country but all over the world. Every year, children from several dozens of countries from all continents participate in it through their works of art. The exhibition - as its name suggests - is organised every year to commemorate murdered children by the Germans from a Czech village of Lidice.
The world organisation UNESCO suggested to dedicate the 34th edition to topics related to the concept of the Planet Earth: "Our Blue Planet", "How I perceive the planet Earth", "Who and what devastates our planet", "Living and inanimate nature around us - water, air, animals, plants, minerals , how to care for them, guard them and protect them", "What is my contribution to cleanness and tidiness of our Earth".

This exhibition is organised by the Lidice Memorial and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic, and Czech Commission for UNESCO.

Works of art, that must be sent in by March 31st, 2006, will be assessed by a panel of expert judges at the beginning of April. Selected works will be awarded an honourable mention and the best of them gain the "Rose of Lidice" commemorative medal. Such successful works will be displayed at the main exhibition in the Lidice Gallery in Lidice. The exhibition will be inaugurated in the presence of significant Czech personalities, representatives of Czech schools, cultural institutions, and embassies of countries accredited in the Czech Republic, as well as in the presence of graphic artists, pedagogues, and especially a lot of children. Based on the main display, we will subsequently prepare several smaller exhibitions that will be mounted in other Czech towns but also outside the territory of our country.

Children's works received after the deadline will be submitted to the panel of judges of the exhibition planned for 2007.
